How to Play Solitaire (Klondike Rules)
Solitaire (specifically the Klondike variation) is the world's most popular single-player card game. Whether you are playing with a physical deck of cards or on our app, the rules remain the same. Here is a quick guide on how to play and win.
The Objective of the Game
The goal of Solitaire is simple: you must move all 52 cards into the four empty Foundation piles at the top of the screen. Each foundation pile represents one suit (Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, Spades) and must be built in ascending order, starting with the Ace and ending with the King.
The Setup
When a game begins, the cards are dealt into three main areas:
- The Tableau: The seven columns of cards in the main play area. The first column has one card, the second has two, and so on. Only the top card of each column is face-up.
- The Stockpile: The remaining deck of cards at the top left. You will draw from this pile when you run out of moves in the Tableau.
- The Foundations: The four empty slots where you must build your winning piles.

To uncover the hidden cards and move them to the foundation, you must follow these rules:
- Alternating Colors: In the Tableau, you can only place a card on top of another card if it is the opposite color and exactly one rank lower. For example, a red 6 can only be placed on a black 7.
- Moving Sequences: You can move a full stack of face-up cards together, as long as the bottom card of the moving stack legally fits onto the target card.
- Empty Columns: If you completely clear one of the seven Tableau columns, that empty space can only be filled by a King (or a sequence starting with a King).
Drawing Cards
When you are stuck, tap the Stockpile to draw new cards. Depending on your settings, you will either draw 1 card at a time or 3 cards at a time. If you cycle through the entire stockpile, you can reset it and go through it again.
